Fulham manager Felix Magath has clarified the situation regarding forward Darren Bent, who recently expressed his disappointment at being benched.
The 30-year-old, who is on loan at Craven Cottage from Aston Villa, has disputed Magath's claims that he was not fit to start in last Sunday's 3-1 defeat to Everton.
"He stopped the training session on Friday and didn't resume training," Magath said in Thursday's press conference. "He said on Saturday he felt better, so I decided to put him on the bench because he's a player we need, but the risk for him to play was too high because he cancelled the training session on Friday."
The Cottagers are rooted to the bottom of the Premier League table, five points adrift of safety.
