Fulham have closed in on the signing of Wolfsburg's 27-year-old full-back Kevin Mbabu ahead of their return to the Premier League, according to a report.
Marco Silva's side return to the top flight in the 2022-23 campaign after lifting the Championship title last season, ensuring an immediate return to England's top tier.
The West London outfit have already brought in Portugal international Joao Palhinha from Sporting Lisbon, and also completed a deal for Manchester United's Andreas Pereira on Monday.
Mbabu could be set to become their third new arrival of the summer according to Evening Standard, who are reporting that Fulham have moved into advanced talks with the Switzerland international.
The report suggests that a deal worth around an initial £5m is set to be agreed, with personal terms not expected to be an issue between the two parties.
With Mbabu entering the final 12 months of his contract with the Bundesliga outfit, this window could be the last chance that Wolfsburg have of demanding a fee for the right-back, and Fulham look to have swooped in to secure his signature.
Silva was keen to find a replacement for Neco Williams in that area of the pitch ahead of the new season, with the Welshman's loan deal coming to an end in West London before securing a permanent transfer to fellow newly-promoted side Nottingham Forest on Monday.
Should the defender complete his move to Fulham, he will be no stranger to the Premier League after his days with Newcastle United, although Mbabu was restricted to only three appearances in the top flight after several loan moves away from Tyneside. body check tags ::
