Fulham have made an official complaint to the Premier League regarding Liverpool's pursuit of forward Clint Dempsey.
The Merseyside outfit have been heavily linked with a move for the USA international, who remains out of contention for the Cottagers following the forward's refusal to play for manager Martin Jol.
"The Premier League has received a complaint from Fulham FC regarding certain comments made by Liverpool FC officials and is currently looking into the matter," read a statement.
It is believed that the West London club have complained to the league chiefs over what are thought to be comments made by Reds boss Brendan Rodgers regarding his interest in the player in a press conference, according to Sky Sports News.
The Cottagers believe that the Northern Irishman broke Premier League rules by publicly announcing his desire to sign the 29-year-old.
Reports have claimed that the complaint was originally lodged last month.
