Fulham head coach Rene Meulensteen has revealed that he will hold talks with forward Dimitar Berbatov in January regarding his future but has insisted that he has already had a "good chat" with the player.
Berbatov's agent recently claimed that the former Manchester United forward is unhappy at Craven Cottage and wants to leave the club in January.
Meulensteen has moved to clarify the comments that he made when he suggested that he will not stop the Bulgarian from securing a transfer elsewhere.
"What I said is I will not stand in anyone's way if they wanted to leave," Sporting Life quotes Meulensteen as saying. "With Dimitar I had a good chat when I took over and he has been as good as gold to me looking at the performance he has put in against Tottenham and Aston Villa.
"With him we are going to really focus on the four upcoming games we have got and from the performance levels that I have seen I am sure everyone will agree if Dimitar plays at that level he will be a very important player in the games to come."
The Cottagers are currently third from bottom in the Premier League table.
