Germany head coach Joachim Low says that he wants to help his country build on their World Cup success by also claiming the 2016 European Championship.

Germany coach Joachim Low has insisted that he is looking to ensure that his country build on their success of winning the World Cup in Brazil by pushing towards a victory at the 2016 European Championship.

Low's Germany side produced a dominant performance during the tournament in South America to claim the cup, but have since struggled in the qualification games for the coming 2016 showpiece.

"It would be wrong to be satisfied with what we have achieved so far," said Low, according to FIFA.com

"It is important for us now to put some distance between ourselves and our previous success and bring in new ideas. We have to introduce new players and set new goals to keep the players motivated.

"I hope that we are able to confirm our [World Cup] success. That we can characterise an era in which we not only won the title, but we can recapture the feeling [of success]. And that in 2016 we can win the [European Championship] final in Paris and then focus on defending our title at the 2018 World Cup."

Low's current contract takes him up until the end of the tournament, which is being held in France.
