Hannover 96 have confirmed that Didier Ya Konan will not feature before the winter break after having surgery to repair an ankle problem.
Ya Konan injured ankle ligaments during last week's 1-1 draw with Hertha Berlin, sustaining enough damage for Hannover to decide that an operation is the best course of action.
The Ivory Coast international forward will not play again until 2014 and is ruled out for club and country for around three months.
Hannover confirmed the news in a short statement this afternoon, which read: "Ya Konan will return to Hannover shortly after appropriate aftercare on site.
"Following the operation and the extensive rehabilitation, he will be out for a long time and not play again in the Bundesliga before the winter break."
The 29-year-old has featured in six of Hannover's seven matches so far this season, scoring once to help Mirko Slomka's side sit fifth in the table.
