James Keatings has joined Hibernian on a two-year contract following his release by Edinburgh rivals Hearts.
The 23-year-old left Hearts by mutual consent last week after being told that his involvement in the first team would be limited next season.
"I was looking at my future, first and foremost," he told Sky Sports News. "I had SPL offers but I do believe this is the best offer I could get and the best for my future.
"It's a tough league to get out of, we've seen that in the last couple of years. I've been lucky – I've been in two teams that have gone up. We'll have a hard pre-season, and then have a real go at it."
Keatings scored 11 goals in 33 appearances for Hearts during their promotion-winning 2014-15 campaign.
