Huddersfield Town defender Tommy Smith has been taken to hospital by helicopter after suffering an injury in his side's Championship clash against Leeds United.
The 22-year-old received treatment for nine minutes after attempting to prevent Billy Sharp's late winner in the Terriers' 2-1 home defeat on Saturday.
A Yorkshire Air Ambulance helicopter landed on the pitch after the game to take him to Leeds General Infirmary, with Huddersfield manager Chris Powell telling BBC Sport that the defender had suffered "major head or neck trauma".
Huddersfield said that they would be able to give further updates after the former Manchester City academy player had undergone tests at the hospital.
