Former Newcastle United striker Shola Ameobi remains in talks with Huddersfield Town, according to Terriers manager Chris Powell.
The 33-year-old is currently a free agent and has been training with the Championship club for the past week.
Powell admitted that talks had begun with the Nigerian international but were put on hold to prepare for consecutive away games against Cardiff City and Charlton Athletic.
The Huddersfield boss told reporters: "Those games needed our full attention, and we stayed away between them, but we are still talking and we will see if something comes of it.
"Shola is a free agent, so we are not bound by any deadlines and have time on our side."
Ameobi spent 13 seasons with Newcastle United before joining Turkish side Gaziantep in 2014 but was released by Crystal Palace in the summer.
