George Boyd happy with first-team run

George Boyd feels that he is taking his chance in the Hull City first team since being given the opportunity by manager Steve Bruce.

Hull City forward George Boyd has admitted his frustration at not playing at the start of the season but believes that Steve Bruce has melded the new players together nicely.

The 28-year-old joined on loan from Peterborough United last season before completing a permanent move in the summer, and initially he struggled to break into the first team.

However, the former Stevenage trainee has gotten his chance in recent weeks, and feels that he is doing enough to stake his claim for a regular spot.

"You do find that in the Premier League [managers] do forget about the people who got them up and bring loads of new players in, but the gaffer has done well to keep everyone happy and everyone has got their opportunity to play their part and prove they can play at this level so far," Sky Sports News quotes Boyd as saying.

"It was frustrating not playing at the start of the season, but the boys were doing really well and the gaffer has done really well with that, saying to us 'be patient, you'll get your chance and when you do, take it'.

"That's his man management skills to a tee. We've got a really tight-knit group and to keep everyone feeling involved even when they're not on the pitch has been brilliant. A few of us who have been patient have got our chance lately and taken it with both hands."

Hull are currently 10th in the league table.
