Hull City skipper Jake Livermore scores in the final minute as Steve Bruce's side beat Reading 2-1 in their Championship clash at the KC Stadium.

Hull City came from behind to beat Reading 2-1 in Wednesday's Championship clash at the KC Stadium.

The story of the match was a fine performance from Reading goalkeeper Jonathan Bond, who made a host of impressive saves, but could not stop his team suffering their fourth straight league defeat.

The first chance of the match fell to Reading inside four minutes, but Daniel Williams, who was on the stretch, was denied by Hull stopper Allan McGregor.

McGregor was then pressed into action to deny a swerving strike from Nick Blackman as the visitors made a bright start to proceedings.

It was Reading that continued to threaten as the game developed, with Oliver Norwood sending another effort wide of the post as Hull struggled to make their mark. It came as no surprise when the Royals opened the scoring in the 29th minute and the goal came from a strike from Blackman, which found the top corner from inside the box.

Hull finally came to life in the 34th minute when a deep free kick caused problems inside the Reading box, but Curtis Davies's low effort was saved by Bond, before Abel Hernandez just failed to make contact on a cross from the right.

Blackman came close to doubling Reading's lead late in the first period when he sent a rasping free kick towards the top corner, but his effort smashed off the post.

Hull came out firing in the second period and came close through Moses Odubajo in the 47th minute, but Bond was once again on hand to make his second smart save of the match, before Hernandez fired wide of the post from close range.

The hosts levelled the scores just past the hour when Hernandez fired home from close range after Ahmed Elmohamady had been kept out by the diving Bond.

All of the momentum was with Steve Bruce's side at that point and Chuba Akpom hit the side-netting with a clever strike in the 67th minute. Akpom had another golden chance five minutes later after poor defending from Reading, but once again Bond was on hand to make a stunning stop.

Robert Snodgrass was next to come close for the hosts 13 minutes from time, but his free kick was never really testing Bond between the sticks.

It was Hull that were to have the last laugh at the KC, however, with Livermore hammering home from close range in the final minute after Bond had made another stop.

The result has left Hull fourth in the table, while Reading, who remain 13th, have missed the chance to move above Queens Park Rangers.
