Ipswich Town manager Mick McCarthy has said that he was "thrilled" for Conor Sammon after he scored the winning goal against former club Wigan Athletic on Monday evening.
Sammon, who is on loan to the Tractor Boys from Derby County, scored just once during an 18-month spell with the Latics.
Goals from Luke Hyam and Sammon gave the Tractor Boys a 2-1 victory, which was their first ever win at the DW Stadium.
"I was thrilled for him," RTE quotes McCarthy as saying. "I thought he grew into the game and got better and better.
"He hasn't played a lot at Derby, he's been sub a lot, and you need to ply your trade to be able to do it properly. Let's hope he's going to do that for us on a regular basis."
Ipswich have moved up to seventh in the Championship with the victory.
