Mick McCarthy has bolstered Ipswich Town's forward line with the loan signing of Derby Country's Conor Sammon.
The 27-year-old scored 13 goals in 89 appearances for the Rams following his arrival from Wigan in 2012 for a fee believed to be £1.2m.
"Conor's first-team chances were limited last season, especially with Chris Martin in superb form," Derby County manager Steve McClaren told reporters.
"That was unfortunately going to be the case for him this season, especially following the arrival of Leon Best from Blackburn Rovers, so moving on loan to Ipswich Town presents him with a strong possibility of playing first-team football."
Sammon has won nine caps for the Republic of Ireland but has yet to find the net.
