Jorginho and Riccardo Montolivo are among seven players cut from the Italy squad by Antonio Conte for Euro 2016 this summer.

Jorginho and Riccardo Montolivo have been left out of Italy's squad for Euro 2016 this summer.

Manager Antonio Conte named a preliminary 30-man squad, but cut seven players to get down to the final 23-man roster for the tournament in France.

Conte is already without injured pair Claudio Marchisio and Marco Verratti, in addition to the dropped Andrea Pirlo, but he has opted to leave Jorginho and Montolivo at home, with the latter having struggled with a calf problem recently.

Thiago Motta has suffered with a similar injury but is included in the squad alongside Daniele de Rossi, who came through Sunday's friendly victory over Scotland unscathed despite concerns over an Achilles injury.

Davide Astori, Daniele Rugani, Marco Benassi, Davide Zappacosta and Giacomo Bonaventura are the other players to be cut by Conte, but uncapped midfielder Stefano Sturaro is included.

Graziano Pelle, Angelo Ogbonna and Matteo Darmian are the Premier League representatives in the squad, while Gianluigi Buffon will captain the team in France.

Italy get their campaign underway against Belgium on June 13, before subsequent matches against Sweden and the Republic of Ireland.
