Sports Mole previews Friday's La Liga clash between Las Palmas and Osasuna, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.
Sports Mole

Las Palmas will be bidding to bounce back from three straight defeats when they continue their La Liga campaign with a contest against Osasuna at Estadio Gran Canaria on Friday night.

Pio Pio, who are 14th in the La Liga table, will enter the match off the back of a 4-1 defeat to Real Madrid, while 10th-placed Osasuna drew 1-1 with Rayo Vallecano in their last fixture.

Match preview

Las Palmas have had a difficult start to 2025, losing twice in La Liga and once in the Copa del Rey, conceding 10 times in those three fixtures, and they will enter this match off the back of a 4-1 defeat to Real Madrid at Bernabeu.

Los Amarillos boast a record of six wins, four draws and 10 defeats from their 20 league matches this season, which has left them in 14th spot in the table on 22 points, three points outside of the relegation zone.

Diego Martinez's side have the third-worst home record in Spain's top flight this term, only picking up 12 points from their 10 matches in front of their own fans, but Osasuna have just one away victory from their nine games on their travels.

Las Palmas are also without a La Liga victory over Osasuna since May 2017, but it was a close contest between the two sides earlier this season, with Friday's visitors running out 2-1 winners on home soil.

Pio Pio finished 16th in La Liga last season on their return to the top flight, and they are bidding to make it three straight campaigns at this level of football for the first time since the 2017-18 season.

Osasuna, meanwhile, will enter this match off the back of a 1-1 draw with Rayo Vallecano, with Raul Garcia cancelling out an opener from Sergio Camello, as the points were shared at Estadio El Sadar.

Los Rojillos beat Athletic Bilbao 3-2 in the last-16 stage of the Copa del Rey on January 16, and they will now take on Real Sociedad at the start of February for a spot in the semi-finals of the competition.

Vicente Moreno's side have won six, drawn eight and lost six of their 20 league matches this season to collect 26 points, which has left them in 10th spot in the table, seven points outside of the relegation zone.

Osasuna are only two points behind seventh-placed Real Sociedad, meanwhile, and they will certainly have their eyes on a top-half finish in Spain's top flight this term.

Los Rojillos finished 11th in La Liga last season, so there is room for improvement in 2024-25, having been seventh in 2022-23, but they have not managed to finish inside the top six since claiming fourth in 2005-06.

Team News

Las Palmas will be without the services of Benito Ramirez on Friday due to the red card that he received in the team's 4-1 defeat to Real Madrid in the Spanish capital last time out.

Jose Campana, Daley Sinkgraven and Viti will also miss out through injury, while Marvin Park remains a major doubt.

Head coach Martinez is expected to resist the temptation to shuffle his pack following the clash with Real Madrid, and there will be another start through the middle for Fabio Silva, who scored his sixth La Liga goal of the campaign at Bernabeu last time out.

As for Osasuna, Jose Arnaiz remains a doubt due to an illness, while Bryan Zaragoza is still out with a foot injury, but the visitors are otherwise in strong shape for their clash with Las Palmas.

Iker Munoz could be introduced into the side following the draw with Rayo, but Raul Garcia is likely to again start on the bench despite his goal in the team's last match.

Ante Budimir has again been in impressive form during the 2024-25 campaign, scoring 10 times in La Liga, and there will be another spot in the final third of the field for the experienced striker.

Las Palmas possible starting lineup:
Cillessen; Suarez, Herzog, McKenna, A Munoz; Sandro, J Munoz, Marmol, K Rodriguez, Moleiro; Silva

Osasuna possible starting lineup:
Herrera; Areso, Boyomo, Catena, Cruz; Ibanez, Torro; I Munoz, Oroz, Ruben Garcia; Budimir

We say: Las Palmas 1-1 Osasuna

Osasuna have only won once on their travels in La Liga during the 2024-25 campaign, so we are finding it difficult to back them here, even taking into account Las Palmas' recent issues; it would not be a shock to see a victory either way, but we are expecting the points to be shared in a low-scoring draw.
