Joey Barton has insisted that Danny Drinkwater is worthy of an England call-up.
Twenty-six-year-old Drinkwater is widely regarded to have been one of Leicester City's key players in their rise to the top of the Premier League.
He is yet to receive international recognition from England head coach Roy Hodgson, something that Barton has claimed is "overdue".
"I think he has to at least get a call up. What more does he have to do? #overdue," the Burnley midfielder wrote on Twitter.
Drinkwater was named man of the match during Leicester's 1-0 win over Newcastle United this evening.
