Claudio Ranieri eyes Leicester City improvement

Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri admits that he was "sad" to see his side lose concentration late on in their friendly victory over Burton Albion.

Claudio Ranieri has admitted that there is still plenty of room for improvement after seeing Leicester City claim a 2-1 win over Burton Albion.

The Foxes came out on top thanks to Jamie Vardy's double at the Pirelli Stadium in a game that they largely dominated.

A loss of focus late on allowed the hosts to claim a consolation strike, however, which Ranieri suggests could offer cause for concern.

"The game was very good because it was against a team that were better than the last two we faced," he told Leicester's official website. "We worked very hard for 90 minutes. That is good for our stamina.

"Tonight we made some good action but also we conceded some good chances, which isn't good for us. I was sad to concede a goal but that is football. We respect our opponent but we must concentrate until the end of the match.

"I told the players that we had the chances to score more goals. The opponent had time to control the ball, run with the ball and shoot at goal. That's too many seconds. We had to close him very quickly."

Leicester face Rotherham United and Birmingham City in their final two pre-season outings ahead of the new Premier League campaign.
