Matty James predicts close Championship season

Leicester City midfielder Matty James believes that it will be another close season in the Championship.

Leicester City midfielder Matty James has said that he expects another closely-fought year in the Championship next season.

Just 14 points separated the Foxes in the playoff places and Peterborough United, who were relegated to League One.

The 21-year-old told the club's website: "I've really enjoyed this year being near the top end throughout the season and the playoffs, and I want to experience that again. If we can finish the season in the top two then great, but if not we'll definitely give it our all in the playoff places if that's the way we have to do it.

"It's a great league to play in. Any team can beat any other team at any time. If you look at the relegation battle last year, then some of the teams wouldn't have even been there had it been the year before, and obviously it was a low points total to get in to the playoffs. It was a weird league last year and I think it will be the same again this year.

"I spoke about it in the past, but I had a bad couple of seasons from the age of 18 until 20, with two bad injuries that set me back. So last year was the first proper season that I've had and that was massive for me and now I'm getting ready to put in some massive performances for Leicester next season."

Leicester finished the season sixth in the Championship table, but lost to Watford in the playoff semi-finals.
