Claudio Ranieri reveals that he is "so glad" to have been appointed as Leicester City's new manager, having previously 'dreamt' of returning to the Premier League.

New Leicester City boss Claudio Ranieri has admitted that he is delighted to have been given another chance to succeed in the Premier League.

The 63-year-old saw his first spell in English football ultimately end in disappointment, as he was axed as Chelsea boss in 2004.

Ranieri, who has been seeking a new job since being sacked as Greece manager at the end of last year, now hopes to repay Leicester chiefs for the faith they have shown by appointing him on a three-year deal.

"I'm so glad to be here in a club with such a great tradition as Leicester City," he told the Foxes' official website. "I have worked at many great clubs, in many top leagues, but since I left Chelsea I have dreamt of another chance to work in the best league in the world again.

"I wish to thank the owner, his son and all the executives of the club for the opportunity they are giving me. Now I've only one way for returning their trust: squeeze all my energies to getting the best results for the team."

Ranieri's first competitive game in charge of Leicester will be against Sunderland on the opening weekend of the Premier League season.
