Leicester City and Everton are reportedly interested in the signing of Juventus man Arthur Melo.

The 27-year-old has endured a tumultuous career to date full of fitness issues and high-profile moves, although unfortunately the former has dominated the narrative in recent years.

Arthur secured a temporary move from the Old Lady to Liverpool for the 2022-23 term but only managed a single appearance across all competitions due to injuries.

Following a troubling 12 months on Merseyside, the midfielder had a better time during his next loan stint, linking up with Italian outfit Fiorentina for the 2023-24 campaign.

The Viola were able to get 48 appearances out of Arthur - the most since his 50-game term with Gremio in 2017 - with the Brazilian scoring twice and providing three assists.

Leicester, Everton 'hold talks' over Arthur swoop

According to Tutto Juve, two Premier League clubs could be set to offer Arthur another shot at the English top flight following his lacklustre spell at Liverpool.

The report states that both Leicester and Everton have held initial talks with Juventus over the potential permanent acquisition of the 27-year-old.

It is understood that neither club have submitted an official offer for Arthur at this stage, although such a move could be forthcoming from both parties.

The 22-time international would have been hoping that his performances for Fiorentina would have earned him an opportunity to impress at Allianz Stadium this term.

However, it is believed that Arthur does not form part of Thiago Motta's first-team thinking in Turin and will be allowed to leave for a suitable fee before the conclusion of the window.

Is Arthur a good fit for Leicester?

Facing a first year back in the Premier League and potential Profit & Sustainability punishments, Leicester need a reliable, robust group of players to fight for the club's top-tier status.

Arthur does not fit that billing if purely looking at his Liverpool statistics, with the midfielder mustering up just 13 minutes of service for Jurgen Klopp's troops in 2022-23.

However, concerns surrounding Arthur's fitness have been reduced over the past year as he was a readily-available option for loan club Fiorentina in Serie A.

More of a defensive midfielder, the former Barcelona man would not represent a replacement for Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, although he could provide a solid base for the Foxes' attacking stars to shine in front of. body check tags ::
