Leicester City have confirmed the deadline day signing of centre-back Harry Souttar from Stoke City.

The 24-year-old joins the Foxes in a deal thought to be worth an initial £15m, with a further £5m in add-ons.

Souttar has put pen to paper on a five-and-a-half-year contract at the King Power Stadium, keeping him at the club until 2028.

The likes of West Ham United and Wolverhampton Wanderers had been credited with an interest in the towering defender, but Leicester have now won the race and officially announced his arrival shortly after the 11pm transfer deadline.

"I'm delighted to join such a great football club and challenging myself in the Premier League is an opportunity that I couldn't turn down," the Australia international told the club's official website.

"There are world-class facilities here and a squad full of fantastic players, so I can't wait to get started."

Souttar spent a year on the sidelines with a serious knee injury last season, but returned in time to feature four times for Australia during the World Cup in Qatar.

The former Dundee United man received plaudits for his performances during the tournament, leading to increased speculation over his future at Stoke.

Souttar leaves Stoke having made 70 appearances for the club across all competitions, including seven so far in 2022-23.

The defender could make his debut for Leicester during Saturday's Premier League clash with Aston Villa. body check tags ::
