Leicester City have reportedly made advanced contact with Domenico Berardi regarding a January move for the Sassuolo winger.
Berardi was linked with a move to the Premier League throughout the summer, with the King Power Stadium touted as a likely destination, but after talks fell through, the Foxes are said to have reached back out to the player.
Reports in Italy suggest Sassuolo may have dropped their original asking price of €40m (£34.2m) by €5m (£4.3m) after the initial interest in the Euro 2020 winner over the summer, with Brendan Rodgers's side set to swoop.
According to Leicestershire Live, the Midlands outfit have made in-depth contact with the winger, who rejoined Sassuolo permanently in 2015, and are now deemed favourites to secure his signature in the winter transfer window.
In 228 Serie A appearances for I Neroverdi, Berardi has notched up 86 goals and 56 assists but is yet to feature this season due to fitness issues.
Such a capture would see Rodgers add to his squad after the signings of defenders Jannik Vestergaard and Ryan Bertrand, midfielder Boubakary Soumare and attackers Ademola Lookman and Patson Daka in the summer transfer window, following the Foxes' second straight season of achieving European qualification. body check tags ::
