Leicester City tried to sign Napoli striker Manolo Gabbiadini in the final 48 hours of the summer transfer window, it has been reported.
The 24-year-old scored nine goals in 29 games for the Partenopei last season and was said to be in high demand among Premier League clubs.
Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport claims that the English champions made a bold attempt to sign Gabbiadini, but their bid, said to be in the region of £25m, was turned down as the player was keen to remain in Naples.
The Italy international has started just three of Napoli's seven Serie A matches this campaign but could now be set for a run in the side after Arkadiusz Milik injured his knee ligaments on international duty.
