Leicester City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel has agreed a move to Ligue 1 side Nice ahead of the 2021-22 campaign, according to a report.
The 35-year-old had been linked with a move away from the King Power Stadium earlier in the window, having admitted that he would be open to a new challenge before calling time on his career.
Schmeichel joined the Foxes back in 2011 from Leeds United, and has gone on to make 479 first-team appearances for the club during his 11-year stay so far.
During that time, the Denmark international has won the Premier League, FA Cup and Community Shield with Leicester, but L'Equipe are reporting that his time may be about to come to an end.
Although Schmeichel still has a year left on his contract in the East Midlands, the report suggests that the shot stopper will make the move for free.
However, any agreement is subject to Leicester finding a replacement for their number one ahead of the new season, which they begin with the visit of Brentford on August 7.
Brendan Rodgers' side do have Danny Ward and Daniel Iversen as ready-made replacements for Schmeichel should he move on, with the former proving a capable understudy in recent years, whilst the latter has recently returned to the club following an impressive loan spell with Preston North End in the Championship.
Meanwhile, Nice have been on the lookout for a new goalkeeper since selling Walter Benitez to PSV Eindhoven earlier in the transfer window, and had been close to sealing a move for Yann Sommer from Borussia Monchengladbach, before the Switzerland international changed his mind on a potential move to France. body check tags ::
