French club Lille have completed the signing of Djibril Sidibe from Troyes for a fee in the region of £1.5m.
The arrival of the 19-year-old has led some to speculate that Lille have admitted defeat in their battle to keep hold of right-back Mathieu Debuchy, who plays in the same position as Sidibe.
Newcastle United are believed to be keen to sign the French international, but have so far been unable to agree a fee for the 26-year-old.
However, the addition of Sidibe has given the Magpies hope that Lille may now be more open to offers for Debuchy, according to Sky Sports News.
Debuchy was part of the France squad that competed at Euro 2012.
