Roy Hodsgon has revealed that Raheem Sterling was left out of England's starting lineup for this evening's Euro 2016 qualifier against Estonia due to fatigue.
The 19-year-old midfielder was replaced in the Three Lions' side by Liverpool teammate Adam Lallana in one of three changes made by Hodgson for the clash in Tallinn.
"We trained yesterday and Raheem Sterling was complaining about feeling tired so there's no point risking him," the England boss told ITV Sport. "It was a simple decision to rest him for this game and use him as a substitute. Adam Lallana interprets the role very well. He can score goals. We can't allow them time to settle."
