How Liverpool could line up against West Ham United

Sports Mole looks at how Premier League leaders Liverpool could line up for Monday night's visit to West Ham United.

Liverpool could go into Monday night's match against West Ham United with just two points separating them from Manchester City.

The Reds began the weekend five points clear at the top of the table, but they have already seen that gap cut by Tottenham Hotspur and Man City would follow suit with victory over Arsenal on Sunday.

Jurgen Klopp's side failed to fully capitalise on Man City's defeat at Newcastle United as they only managed a draw with Leicester City 24 hours later, and they know that they cannot afford many more slip-ups.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how the league leaders could line up at the London Stadium.

Out: Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (knee), Trent Alexander-Arnold (knee), Joe Gomez (leg)
Doubtful: Dejan Lovren (hamstring)

Liverpool will be boosted by the return of James Milner from suspension for Monday's match, and the veteran is likely to slot straight in at right-back after Trent Alexander-Arnold was once again ruled out by Klopp.

Jordan Henderson acted as the emergency right-back against Leicester and performed well enough, but the captain will be glad to return to his preferred central midfield position.

Joe Gomez's expected return date has been pushed further back, while there are concerns that Dejan Lovren has suffered a recurrence of his hamstring injury, despite being on the bench on Wednesday night.

Joel Matip is expected to continue alongside Virgil van Dijk, then, while in front of them Henderson is likely to take the place of Naby Keita, who was underwhelming against the Foxes.

Xherdan Shaqiri's place in the team is also in doubt, but the rest of the attacking four will start once again, with Mohamed Salah having scored four goals in three games against the Hammers and Sadio Mane having directly contributed to six in his last four.
