West Ham United have been handed a boost by the news that Marko Arnautovic's foot injury is not as serious as first feared.
Arnautovic's first appearance for the club since handing in a transfer request only to then perform a U-turn and sign a new deal came to a premature end during Tuesday night's 3-0 defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The 29-year-old was caught by Ruben Neves and then left the stadium on crutches while wearing a protective boot, and initial fears suggested that he could be sidelined for a significant length of time.
However, scans have revealed that Arnautovic only suffered a bruised foot, and Sky Sports News reports that he could recover in time for Monday's match against league leaders Liverpool.
Arnautovic, who has scored eight goals in 19 appearances for West Ham this season, recently penned a fresh 12-month extension at the club.
