Sports Mole rounds up the latest transfer talk for Liverpool on Sunday, September 20.

The summer transfer window has now begun, with rumours and speculation continuing to swirl as Liverpool eye possible reinforcements.

Jurgen Klopp's champions have not been particularly busy during recent windows, but that has not stopped the rumour mill from linking them with additions.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up the latest news on possible comings and goings from Anfield.

Sunday morning's Liverpool transfer talk news roundup:

Liverpool 'keen to complete deal for Ozan Kabak'

Liverpool are reportedly targeting a move for Schalke 04 centre-back Ozan Kabak.

The Reds secured a deal for Bayern Munich's Thiago Alcantara on Friday and are believed to be on the verge of signing Diogo Jota from Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Jurgen Klopp's side are yet to replace Dejan Lovren, though, and according to Transfermarkt, the Premier League champions want to sign Kabak before the end of the summer transfer window.

The report claims that Sevilla's Diego Carlos has also emerged as an option, but Kabak is higher on the club's list as he would be more affordable in the current market.

The 20-year-old featured on 28 occasions for the Royal Blues during the 2019-20 campaign, including 26 outings in the Bundesliga, where he contributed three goals and one assist.

Manchester City, Juventus and Borussia Dortmund have also previously been linked with the Turkey international, who only joined Schalke from Stuttgart on a five-year deal last summer.

Barcelona 'banned from signing Georginio Wijnaldum'

Barcelona have reportedly been forced to give up their pursuit of Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum for the time being.

With former Netherlands manager Ronald Koeman now in charge at Camp Nou, Wijnaldum has been strongly linked with a switch to Catalonia alongside international teammate Memphis Depay.

However, the financial implications of the coronavirus pandemic has forced the governing body to step in and curb clubs' spending during the transfer window.

The Mirror reports that La Liga have blocked Barcelona from signing any new players until they trim down their mammoth £510m wage bill, meaning that Wijnaldum and Depay will be staying put at Liverpool and Lyon respectively for now.

Given the fact that the Spanish government has assisted clubs financially during this period, Barca would also have to fork out the same figure as the transfer fee to the authorities for their help.

However, with Wijnaldum's deal at Anfield set to expire next summer, the midfielder could move to Camp Nou on a free in less than 12 months' time - with personal terms already understood to have been agreed.
