Thursday morning's Liverpool transfer talk news roundup:
Manchester United unwilling to meet Jadon Sancho's wage demands?
Jadon Sancho's salary expectations could reportedly see the Borussia Dortmund attacker miss out on a move to Manchester United this summer.
The Red Devils continue to be linked with the 20-year-old, but BVB have insisted on a number of occasions since returning to pre-season training that the England international will not be leaving the club.
According to the Manchester Evening News, the 20-time English champions are yet to make a breakthrough in discussions over the attacker's proposed salary and agent's fees.
The report claims that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side are determined not to overpay either Sancho or the agent, having previously done so in the deals involving Paul Pogba and Alexis Sanchez.
United are allegedly refusing to give up on a deal for the former Manchester City youngster, but it remains to be seen whether they can agree personal terms with the player and a transfer fee with Dortmund.
Sancho enjoyed an excellent 2019-20 campaign for Lucien Favre's side, scoring 20 times and registering 20 assists in 44 appearances in all competitions.
Liverpool are also said to be keeping a close eye on developments.
Liverpool plotting to hijack Manchester United deal for Jadon Sancho next summer?
Liverpool are reportedly planning to swoop for Jadon Sancho next summer if Manchester United fail to wrap up a deal for the Borussia Dortmund star.
The England international is rumoured to be United's priority target ahead of the 2020-21 campaign as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks to further strengthen his attack.
However, Dortmund chief Hans-Joachim Watzke reiterated earlier this week that the German club are under no obligation to sell the £108m-rated winger.
With a switch to Old Trafford now looking increasingly unlikely, The Express claims that Liverpool are keeping a close eye on the situation with a view to making a move of their own.
The Premier League champions will not spend big this summer due to the financial effects of the coronavirus pandemic, but it is claimed that they would be willing to splash out on Sancho in a year's time if he is still available.
Liverpool have spent just £18m on new signings over the past 18 months, bringing in Takumi Minamino and Kostas Tsimikas from Red Bull Salzburg and Olympiacos respectively.
