Uruguay's Luis Suarez has accused the crowd at the Millennium Stadium of showing him a "total lack of respect" during his side's 1-0 defeat to Team GB last night.
The 25-year-old Liverpool forward, who was handed an eight-game ban by the FA in December for racially abusing Patrice Evra, was frequently booed by the home crowd in Cardiff.
Suarez was also jeered when he appeared on the big screen during the playing of the Uruguay national anthem prior to kick-off.
"I think they jeer me and they boo me because they must be scared of facing a player like me," said Suarez.
"They fear me, but that doesn't affect me. I'm just hurt because we lost and we are going home. I can take the abuse, but I think it was a total lack of respect from the crowd to boo when we were trying to sing our national anthem. I think those things should not happen."
Uruguay were eliminated from the Olympic football tournament as a result of finishing third in Group A.
