Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has revealed that he is weighing up his options ahead of naming a new vice-captain of his team.
The Reds are skippered by Steven Gerrard, but the deputy, Jamie Carragher, retired at the end of the last season.
"The captain and vice-captain is a very important position here at the football club, on and off the field," Rodgers told the club's official website.
"We've got a number of players that I'm looking at and assessing before I'll make that decision at the end of pre-season. I haven't made it yet, there are a few people that I am looking at."
It is believed that the candidates include Pepe Reina, Lucas Leiva and Daniel Agger.
