Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher believes that teammate and club captain Steven Gerrard is the "greatest" player ever to wear a Reds shirt.
The England skipper was honoured last night by the Football Writers Association to celebrate an illustrious career, which includes a Champions League title, three League Cups and two FA Cups.
"I think we are in the presence of the greatest player ever to play for Liverpool," BBC Sport quotes Carragher as saying.
"People will say I am biased because we are good friends and because of the trophies we have won together but it is a fair accolade to give him.
"There are guys like Kenny Dalglish, Graeme Souness, Ian Rush, all world-class players, but the difference was they were in a world-class team and Stevie has not played in a world-class team."
Despite winning a host of medals throughout his career, Gerrard is yet to add a Premier League title to his list of honours.
