Andy Carroll made a sensational switch to Liverpool from Newcastle United a year ago in a £35m move. However, the 23-year-old has not had the easiest transition into life at Anfield.

The striker has netted just seven goals in 36 appearances for the Reds, with recent rumours suggesting that the frontman could be set for an early exit from Merseyside.

While boss Kenny Dalglish and Carroll's fellow teammates continue to back the struggling forward, Sports Mole takes a look back at the striker's last 12 months at Liverpool.

January 2011

Carroll completed his transfer to Liverpool in dramatic fashion on the final day of the winter transfer window last year. The Geordie forward arrived on Merseyside via helicopter that evening to finalise the deal replacing Fernando Torres, who moved to Chelsea for £50m that same night.

March 2011

The England international would have to wait two months for his Liverpool debut as he continued to recover from an injury that he picked up during his time with the Magpies. Carroll eventually made his Reds bow on March 6 as a substitute in Liverpool's 3-1 victory over arch rivals Manchester United.

Carroll made his first start for Liverpool in a Europa League return leg against Braga. The striker then made his Premier League start for the Reds during their 2-0 win over Sunderland. On March 29, Carroll joined up with Fabio Capello's England team and managed to net his first goal for the Three Lions in a friendly against Ghana.

April 2011

After recovering from injury and building up his fitness, Carroll claimed his first goals for Liverpool with a brace against Manchester City at Anfield. While many suggested that the 23-year-old would kick-start his presence in front of goal, the striker failed to score again before the end of the season.

August 2011

While continuing to struggle in the Premier League, Carroll did manage to hit the back of the net in Liverpool's 3-1 win over Exeter City in the second round of the Carling Cup.

October 2011

The ex-Newcastle frontman struggled to find form, prompting widespread criticism of Carroll's ability to live up to his £35m price tag. The striker calmed his critics briefly after scoring in the Reds' 2-0 win over Everton in the Merseyside derby.

Carroll then went on to claim his third goal of the season during a 2-0 win over West Bromwich Albion.

January 2012

After months of struggle at Liverpool, Carroll found himself dropped on a number of occasions by manager Kenny Dalglish. However, after fellow forward Luis Suarez was served an eight-match ban for racially abusing Manchester United defender Patrice Evra, Carroll was given the opportunity to prove his worth.

The striker found the net in the Reds' 5-1 FA Cup win over Oldham Athletic but couldn't remain consistent in the league.

Despite rumours of Liverpool willing to sell the 23-year-old, Carroll commemorated his first year on Merseyside with a goal against Wolverhampton Wanderers last night.
