Liverpool's latest capture Nathaniel Clyne has revealed that former Southampton teammate Adam Lallana convinced him to join the Reds.
The 24-year-old joined the Anfield club for a fee in the region of £12.5m on Wednesday to team up with a host of his old colleagues from St Mary's.
Lallana is one of several Liverpool players to have previously played alongside the right-back at Southampton, and Clyne says that the midfielder encouraged him to join the Merseyside outfit.
"We spoke a lot," Clyne is quoted as saying by ESPN. "He said he wanted me to sign and I said if the deal moves along and gets done, I'd be with him as a teammate once again.
"He said it's a good club, a big club with a huge fan base. He said the team is good and that they are a good bunch of lads. He told me I'd be made to feel welcome if I joined."
Liverpool failed to reveal the length of his contract but speculation has mounted that the England defender signed a five-year deal.
