Hungarian club Debrecen reveal that a 2009 match against Liverpool was part of a match-fixing investigation.

Hungarian club Debrecen tonight revealed that their 2009 Champions League match against Liverpool was part of a match-fixing investigation.

Debrecen goalkeeper Vukasin Poleksic was banned for two years by UEFA in 2010 but the governing body's charge at the time only specified a match against Fiorentina in the same competition.

A statement on Debrecen's website said: "The [UEFA] disciplinary committee's position was that Vukasin Poleksic neglected his obligations when he didn't report in time that, before two international matches of DVSC, unknown persons attempted to persuade him to influence the outcome of the matches.

"The two matches were the away game against Liverpool and the home encounter with Fiorentina."

A Liverpool spokesman told the PA: "We have had no contact from Europol or any other organisation over this."

Liverpool won the match 1-0 thanks to Dirk Kuyt's goal.
