Roberto Firmino has revealed that he was tearful after the reception from Liverpool fans ahead of their Champions League quarter-final against Manchester City on Wednesday.
Mohamed Salah, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Sadio Mane all scored for the Reds prior to half time, leading Jurgen Klopp's side to a comfortable 3-0 win over the league leaders.
Firmino has insisted that the warm support from the fans helped to fire up Liverpool for the European fixture.
"When we were on the bus I was reading about how the reception was going to be," ESPN Brasil quotes him as saying.
"I must say, it filled my eyes full of tears. It was very moving for me. It only gives us more strength to fight on the field and win the games. Liverpool certainly began with an intensity and purpose that even expert motivator Klopp could only have dreamed of. I think we played really well."
The second leg of the Champions League clash will take place at the Etihad Stadium on April 10.
