Jordan Henderson has claimed that he "became a man" during his disappointing first season as a Liverpool player.
The England international was heavily criticised for his performances following a £20m move to Anfield from Sunderland last summer, but he has insisted that there were positives to take from the campaign.
Henderson said: "There were a lot of positives but there were a lot of ups and downs. I learned a lot throughout my first season. I became a man in that time.
"I've had plenty of lows but there were highs. I just have to use all of that experience and hopefully this can be a better year for me.
"Every player is disappointed if you don't play well, but you have to go away and stay positive, keep working hard and training hard, and hopefully it will go right for you."
The 22-year-old is expected to start Liverpool's Europa League match against Hearts on Thursday evening.
