Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson has admitted that his side are disappointed with losing the Premier League title right at the end of the season, but defiantly claimed that the Reds will "come back stronger next season".
Liverpool came back from a goal down to beat Newcastle United 2-1 on the final day of the campaign this afternoon, but as Manchester City also gained three points against West Ham United, the Etihad outfit finished the season with the trophy.
The 23-year-old told BBC Sport after the game: "It was important to finish the season with a win today because you never know what will happen. But we've come such a long way this season.
"Though there is obviously some disappointment - we thought we were good enough to win the title. But we'll come back stronger next season.
"There has been a lot of tension here in the last fortnight, with a young squad going for the title. But it wasn't to be this season, though we're still very proud."
Liverpool's last league title was won in 1990.
