Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp hails a slew of "fantastic goals" after the Reds run out 5-1 winners at Brighton & Hove Albion.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has said that he is 'very satisfied' with his side after they claimed a decisive 5-1 victory at Brighton & Hove Albion this afternoon.

The Reds moved into the top four for the first time since August courtesy of a confident display on the south coast, which saw Emre Can give them the lead with half an hour on the clock.

Goals from Roberto Firmino either side of the break put the visitors firmly in control, with Philippe Coutinho's set piece and a Lewis Dunk own goal completing the rout.

The Seagulls did have a momentary glimmer of hope early in the second half when Glenn Murray scored from the spot after Jordan Henderson was adjudged to have fouled Shane Duffy, a decision that Klopp described as "unbelievable".

"If you win 5-1 it's maybe the best day to get a penalty that is not a penalty. It's not a penalty," he told reporters. "It was unbelievable. I saw it and thought, 'heh?' Obviously he gave it and it made the game a little bit more exciting.

"It was very difficult today. Since yesterday we knew we didn't have enough proper centre-halves – they were ill and injured – and we had to be creative. I'm happy about how the boys adapted to it because it's easy for a team to say 'we're not used to it'.

"Did I enjoy it? Not really, not all the time. At the beginning we needed to be patient with Brighton's style. We needed to get used to it.

"We scored two fantastic goals. It was good to watch. We scored a third which is a good idea in a game like this. A few weeks ago we were lucky with refereeing decisions and we paid it back tonight."

Next up for Liverpool is a trio of home encounters, starting with Spartak Moscow in the Champions League this week before visits of Merseyside rivals Everton and West Bromwich Albion in the league.
