Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has warned his side to prepare for a "proper fight" against Norwich City in Saturday's Premier League opener.
The Canaries have made a swift return to the Premier League after amassing 97 points in last season's Championship and will open their campaign against the Reds at Carrow Road.
Liverpool will face the previous Championship winners for the second season running following a 4-3 success over Leeds United last term, and Klopp has urged his players to prepare for an intense battle this weekend.
Speaking at a press conference ahead of Saturday's Premier League opener with Norwich, Klopp said: "The friendlies are over. We play for points and our supporters' dreams.
"Norwich fans will be as desperate as ours were [to be back]. We have to be ready for a proper fight. The intensity will be completely different. We think we are ready but we have to prove that on Saturday."
Klopp has also hailed the "absolutely great news" of Virgil van Dijk's new deal until the end of the 2024-25 campaign.
