Tottenham striker Harry Kane admits that he is "disappointed" to have only come away with a 1-1 draw from their Premier League clash with Liverpool at Anfield.

Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane has admitted that his side are "disappointed" by only managing a draw against Liverpool at Anfield this evening.

Spurs missed the chance to close the gap on league leaders Leicester City to just two points ahead of the Foxes' match at home to Southampton on Sunday.

Kane acknowledged that the match could have gone either way, but was disappointed that his side did not go on to grab the win after he had cancelled out Philippe Coutinho's opener.

"I think we are a tad disappointed. We wanted to come here and win and get the three points to chase the leaders. We got the goal back at 1-0 down and it is a shame we didn't get the second," he told Sky Sports News.

"It was an open game and about who could deal with the pressure better. We both created chances and it could have gone either way.

"We are fighting for the Premier League, we will watch the Leicester game tomorrow and hope Southampton can get a result and do us a favour. We have done what we can do."

Kane's clinical finish was his 22nd league goal of the season, setting a new club record for the Premier League, and he expressed his pride at the achievement after the game.

"Christian Eriksen made a wonderful run and I just had to turn and get the shot off. I was buzzing to see it in the back of the net," he added.

"I am very proud of my achievement. You want to score in every game you play in. They feel even better when you get the three points. It would have been nice to go on and win the game."

Tottenham's next match sees them take on Manchester United at White Hart Lane next Sunday.
