Jurgen Klopp talks up the 'dominant and impressive' performance from Liverpool in their 2-0 win over AC Milan in the United States.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has praised his players for the way they took control of their pre-season friendly meeting with AC Milan.

The Reds were 2-0 winners at Santa Clara's Levi's Stadium on Sunday, courtesy of goals from star performer Divock Origi and Roberto Firmino in the second half.

It could have been even better for Liverpool had they not squandered a number of chances throughout the match, but Klopp was quick to hail the team effort as his side made it five pre-season victories in six outings.

"Everyone knows about the potential of Divock Origi," the German told reporters when asked about the performance of his young striker. "I understand why you ask about Divock after a game like this but tonight wasn't a night to talk about single players.

"We should talk about the way we played and the dominance we had - the passing situations we had in the first half were brilliant. We passed and passed and passed until we were through. We created chances but didn't score. We had four or five big chances. We lost a bit of patience and chose the wrong ways with too many long balls.

"But then we scored some wonderful goals and had more chances. Gini (Georginio Wijnaldum) did really well in his first game, [Ragnar] Klavan and [Sadio] Mane did really well. There were good signs. I said before I was really happy about the opponent because Italian teams are always well organised and make problems for you. It's not easy to play them."

Liverpool are back in action on Tuesday afternoon when facing Roma, before taking on Barcelona in their final International Champions Cup meeting four days later.
