Southampton legend Matt Le Tissier has claimed that Adam Lallana is England's best player on current form.
The Liverpool midfielder has enjoyed a productive start to the season at club level, helping Jurgen Klopp's side to the top of the Premier League table.
Lallana is expected to feature during Friday's World Cup qualifier against Scotland at Wembley, and Le Tissier believes that he should be the first name on the teamsheet.
"I ask myself who England's best player is and on current form I'd probably say Adam Lallana," Le Tissier told Sky Sports News.
"He tends to be pushed out wide though and I'd like to see him in the number 10 role. He's happy to go both ways so playing him central gives him so many options."
Lallana has won 27 caps for England, scoring one goal.
