Liverpool have reportedly asked Burnley to host the Premier League match between the two sides in August at Turf Moor instead of Anfield due to the Reds' stadium redevelopment.
It was confirmed by the league this morning that Jurgen Klopp's side will face the newly-promoted outfit at Anfield on August 20.
The Merseyside outfit are due to finish building the new Main Stand in mid-August, and even though they expect the stadium to be finished, they have written a request to Burnley to stage the match at Turf Moor, according to the Liverpool Echo.
Should the Clarets agree, the reverse match scheduled for March 11 will be hosted at Anfield.
Liverpool's opening match of the 2016-17 season will be away to Arsenal, while Burnley will kick off their top-flight campaign against Swansea City.
