Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish has said that the Merseyside club will not know the extent of Lucas Leiva's knee injury until a scan has been carried out.
The Brazilian midfielder was stretchered off in the second half of the Reds' 2-0 victory over Chelsea in the Carling Cup quarter-final at Stamford Bridge.
"He's damaged his knee," said Dalglish in his post-match press conference. "We don't know what it is. We'll get him looked at and take it from there.
"We don't know what it is so rather than speculate we are best waiting until we get the proper diagnosis tomorrow or the next day and we'll let everybody know in due course. He needs to get it scanned."
Dalglish's side will learn of their semi-final opponents following the final Carling Cup quarter-final between Manchester United and Crystal Palace tonight.
