Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina has said that Steven Gerrard can go close to Ian Callaghan's club record of 857 appearances.
The 32-year-old Liverpool captain made his 600th appearance for the Merseyside outfit in their 1-1 draw with Newcastle United on Sunday, and Reina has backed him to reach the 800 mark.
"It's an incredible achievement and all credit to him. He does his best in every single training session and leads by example every day," the Spaniard told the club's official website.
"It's only a figure, but 600 games is unbelievable and the only thing we can do is encourage him even more and get him to play almost 800!"
Gerrard has won 10 major trophies with Liverpool since making his debut in 1998, including the Champions League and two FA Cups.
