Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers claims that Saturday's 2-2 draw at Newcastle United will prove to be good result for his side.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has claimed that this afternoon's 2-2 draw at Newcastle United will prove to be a good result for his side.

The Reds twice came from behind on Tyneside, as goals from Steven Gerrard and Daniel Sturridge cancelled out strikes from Yohan Cabaye and Paul Dummett.

Despite declaring himself content with a point, Rodgers admits that he was slightly irritated that his players were unable to win the game after Newcastle had been reduced to 10 men late in the first half.

"We had good opportunities and we were unable to make the breakthrough," Rodgers told reporters.

"There is a little bit of frustration in not getting the three points. However, to come away to St James' Park is not easy. We'll look back on it as a good point."

Liverpool currently sit third in the Premier League table, two points behind leaders Arsenal.
