Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has revealed that he will be looking to add "character" to his side in the summer transfer window.
Rodgers believes that he needs more "men" in his side, particularly with Jamie Carragher retiring at the end of the season.
The former Swansea City coach is hoping that the addition of steel within his ranks will allow his youngsters to develop in a winning side.
"The biggest thing we need this summer is to bring in some men, some character that allows, and supports, the other men to see out the games," Rodgers told reporters at his press conference.
"Look at Carragher. He is our best defender, he is 35, but we are losing that character. That has to be replaced. I always like to give young players hope, but in order to do that they need that bit of experience alongside them."
"The condition and intensity of their work is high, so that only leaves you one thing – mentality. That is the area which needs to improve and to do that we need character."
Liverpool have been linked with a summer move for Swansea defender Ashley Williams in a bid to replace Carragher.
