Liverpool's Brendan Rodgers: 'No time to work with players for Man Utd clash'

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers says that he has had "virtually no time" to work with his players ahead of Saturday's clash against Manchester United.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has claimed that he has had "virtually no time" to work with his players ahead of Saturday's clash against Manchester United due to the international break.

Players up and down the country have been returning to their clubs this week following a round of Euro 2016 qualifiers and friendlies.

With the Reds due to take on their arch rivals at Old Trafford tomorrow, Rodgers has claimed that it will be a "psychological boost" to win, but wishes that he had more time with his team.

"This is the biggest derby game in the history of the league - winning a game like this can give you a psychological boost," Rodgers said in his weekly press conference. "This game comes on the back of the international break, so we've had virtually no time to work with the players. Some only arrived back yesterday.

"United is a huge club and will always be under scrutiny. I think the intensity is still there. The players will feel it, it's always a huge game. It's still two sets of supporters that are very passionate about their teams."

Meanwhile, the manager has not put a timeline on Daniel Sturridge's return to action following five months out with a hip injury.
